Matthew A. Freil, Director of Client Development & Relations

Matt’s career began in 2004 at Radford University, where he joined the all-collegiate, all-volunteer rescue squad, Radford University EMS. His passion for emergency medicine led him to pursue his paramedic certification, and for the past 19 years, he has served the public as a pre-hospital critical care clinician. He and remains certified to this day.

In 2012, Matthew transitioned to LifeNet Health, the Organ Procurement Organization (OPO) for the Commonwealth of Virginia. During his nearly decade-long tenure there, he worked as an organ procurement professional, interacting with individuals who shaped his 10 years of service to organ donors and their loved ones. Matthew's responsibilities at LifeNet Health extended beyond clinical work serving as an educator and a transportation and logistics specialist, responsible for educating the OPO staff in the coordination of complex logistics for air, ground, and national courier runs, as LifeNet Health is the nation’s largest supplier of tissues and allografts.

In early 2021, Matthew assumed his final role before joining the team at NORA, becoming a Clinical Administrator and Manager with Buckeye Transplant Services. There, he led a team of over 45 clinical Transplant Coordinators working for 13 independent transplant centers across the United States. During his tenure at Buckeye, Matthew played a pivotal role in implementing the Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement (QAPI) and Training divisions. He was also tasked with the responsibility of training of numerous new coordinators across multiple contracts.

Throughout his impressive 19-year career, Matthew has been involved in providing advanced levels of critical care medicine, is an expert in crew resource management and emergency transportation logistics. Additionally, he has served as a clinical educator to hundreds of students in Ohio, Virginia, and West Virginia and has impacted the lives of thousands through the gifts of organ, eye and tissue donation. Matthew's wealth of experience, industry contacts, and enduring work ethic will enable NORA to form new and meaningful alliances, as well as strengthen existing relationships with valued clients.
